Family Camp / 25 July – 28 July 2024

At the Table
25th July – 28th July

Mount Sion Family camp 2024 is taking place from 4pm Thursday 25th July until 3pm Sunday 28th July at Sion HQ in Brentwood, Essex.

Mount Sion Family Camp is 3 days for you and your family to spend with other families in a faith filled atmosphere. We plan on having lots of fun, times of prayer, worship, formation and fellowship – all whilst camping in our beautiful gardens! A space where we can discover more fully how to put God at the heart of our family lives.

The table is set. God has prepared a banquet of fine food and drink and invites us to His feast (Isaiah 25:6-9). The theme for Mount Sion Family Camp 2024 is “At the Table.”  We will explore what it means to come together and be at the table with each other and with God.

We had an amazing Mount Sion Family Camp 2023 and we would love you to join us again as well as invite new people to come along to join us for 2024. We are delighted that we have not had to increase the cost of attending Mount Sion Family Camp from the 2022 prices.

Adults £125
Children 11+ £45
Children 2-10 £30
Children 0-2 Free

These prices include all meals from Thursday dinner until Sunday Lunch, a space to pitch your tent and all the fun & festivities of Mount Sion Family Camp. We understand that finances are tight for everyone at the moment and it is very important that you do not let the cost stop you and your family from coming to Mount Sion Family Camp. Please just book on, pay the £30 deposit (if you can) and email us at familycamp@sioncommunity.org.uk if you are in need of a bursary.

D Summer / 5 – 7 July 2024

GOD IS CALLING

Has God called me? What does that mean? What does God expect of me? What is my calling? God wants me to do what?!

If you have ever found yourself asking these questions, then you are in good company! King David in the old testament was called by God, and boy did these questions come up for him! This D-Summer we are going to be looking at what it means to be a disciple, and what difference that can make in our lives. We’re going to be looking at the life of David to see what it can teach us today.

Join us for a residential weekend of fun, discussions, activities, and prayer to explore what it means to be called.

Age: School Years 7-13

Price:£80

Location: Brentwood, Essex

Date: 5th-7th July

These Terms & Conditions apply.

Thy Kingdom Come Prayer Room

Monday 22nd – Saturday 27th May 2023

All are welcome to join us as we pray for those we know and love to come closer to Christ as we journey from the Ascension to Pentecost this year. The first thing the disciples did after receiving the Great Commission was to pray. We are inviting you to join us in a wave of prayer for evangelisation.

Are there 5 people you know, whose life could be better if they were closer to Christ? If so, why not join us as we pray; ‘Thy Kingdom Come.’

Whilst you are welcome to pray in your own way, wherever you are, we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to come and pray with us, at our Chapel for 6 days of prayer.

Sign up to pray

Let us know you are coming by clicking below. It’s completely free and we will be able to send you information before you arrive.

Pray as you can

From Monday evening to Sunday evening our Chapel at SENT will be open to anyone wanting to pray for the Holy Spirit to awaken the faith of the people we carry in our hearts. Whether prayer is a regular practice or you would just like to give it a try, we would love to see you over these six days of prayer in the lead up to Pentecost.

The Chapel will have different prayer stations to help you in your prayer and we are planning some set times of prayer for those who prefer to pray with others. We are delighted that there are also some times where we will be join in prayer with Christian brothers and sisters from other traditions.

Welcome Team

If hospitality is important to you, then we would love to have you on our welcome team at the reception of our community house so people coming to pray are met with a friendly face and warm welcome.

We could also do with some help coordinating the parking, especially at peak times in the evening. You can also sign up to join the welcome team by clicking on the date you can come along.

CCRS module in Evangelisation / Autumn 2022

Sion Catholic Community for Evangelism, in partnership with Brentwood Diocese, offers a 10-hour specialist CCRS module, Evangelisation, in Autumn 2022.

IN PERSON: attend two study days 10 September and 12 November

OR

ONLINE: five two-hour sessions 7 pm – 9 pm on Thursday evenings
3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th November and 1st December via Zoom

This module is open to CCRS participants across England & Wales in lieu of taking one of the specialist modules in your local CCRS centre. The course is also open to anyone who simply wants to learn more about how and why to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!

In this module you will discover the Biblical roots and key Vatican documents about how and why we should share our faith with others; the history of how the Catholic Faith spread through the world and the new challenges of a post-Christian world which requires a “new evangelisation”. You will discover the usual thresholds of faith which believers pass through on the journey from “no religion” to being a committed member of the Church, the key pastoral challenges of sharing faith in today’s culture, and many tools which can help individuals, parishes and communities to become effective in sharing the Gospel message.

There are two ways to access this module:

IN PERSON

We held a study day at the Sion Community National Training Centre (SENT) in Brentwood (CM15 9BX), on Saturday 10 September. The same content will be offered as part of the online series; it would be possible to watch talks 1-4 online and then come to talks 6-10 in person on Saturday 12 November (9.30 am – 7.00 pm).

Each day includes five contact hours of teaching, and offers the opportunity to join Sion Community for Morning Prayer and evening Mass.

Please bring your own packed lunch; tea and coffee will be available. Bed & breakfast (and the means of making a packed lunch) is available the night before and the night after for participants travelling from a distance, for an additional charge of £40 per night (or £50 with supper).

ONLINE

The same course content will be offered as five two-hour sessions 7 pm – 9 pm on Thursday evenings 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th November and 1st December via Zoom.

COST

The cost of taking part in this course is £50 – the same price applies whether you are attending in-person or online, and whether or not you are being formally assessed for the CCRS certificate.

Your module tutors will be:

Fr Gareth Leyshon

Director of Evangelisation for the Archdiocese of Cardiff 2012-2018, now with Sion Community full-time

Teresa Carvalho

Catholic lay missionary with 30 years’ experience in many aspects of the Church including youth ministry and with the Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales

FaithLift / 10 July 2022

All (adults) are welcome at our third ‘FaithLift’ day on Sunday 10th July 2022.

Come together with Michelle Moran and Sion Community to be inspired, nourished and strengthened in faith so you can be empowered to make a difference in the world. These days of celebration will include praise and worship, teaching, time for fellowship, Eucharistic Adoration and an opportunity for prayer ministry and confession.

Sunday FaithLift events run from 2 pm to 5.30pm. There is a 12.00 Mass available for those not serving in their parishes. Please bring a packed lunch.

We do not offer a parallel programme for children on our FaithLift days; children are always welcome to accompany their parents. But parents with younger children may find our Family Days more suited to their needs.

There is no need to book for FaithLift – simply turn up at SENT, our Mission House at the end of Sawyers Hall Lane in Brentwood, Essex, CM15 9BX.

Every Sunday, from November 7th, we’ll be releasing a ‘FaithLift Message’ as part of our Faith Lift series. In March, Michelle Moran will be sharing on the theme of Lent. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel, so you don’t miss out!
