Cross Purposes Mission Team

Vision

Cross Purposes are committed to the task of evangelisation. We firmly believe that the witness of Christian lifestyle by staff, parents, governors and students, linked with good educational practice, is the basic way of spreading the Gospel in any Roman Catholic school.

Cross Purposes spend the week in school ministering in a variety of ways ranging from specialised group work with students, teachers, governors, staff and parents, through to assemblies and larger group presentations. The team usually consists of around 7 members of the Sion Community.

We involve as many of the students as possible and see this as a time when they are trained in presenting the Gospel message, using drama, mime, dance and song. The evening presentations provide an opportunity for the pupils to minister to their peers and any other who may attend. Alongside the team they present the Gospel message in a lively, relevant and dynamic way.

Our methodology includes:
* Our corporate witness of life.
* Proclaiming and presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
* Communicating the Gospel Message in relevant ways and inviting a response.
* Sharing our faith authentically and encouraging others to grow in their faith.
* Creating environments which encourage openness to personal experiences of God.
* Ministering to others by listening to their needs and praying with them.
* Encouraging young people and others to actively participate in the community life of the church.
* Providing follow up which equips young people for the task of evangelisation.
