OverviewPhase 1: Pre-Mission Our Pre-Mission co-ordinator visits the Parish (usually about a year before the event) to explain the ethos and practicalities of a Sion Community Parish Mission. We have a variety of Mission structures that can be adapted to meet particular needs and local circumstances. Where
necessary, additional visits can also be made at strategic times, to Phase 2: Two week Mission event * Week One : House-to-house visitation During the first week of the two week Mission, the Visiting Team spend most of their time on house-to-house visitation, calling on as many parishioners as possible. *
Before visiting starts each day, mass is celebrated followed by a short
faith-sharing from one of the team. * Week two : Mission services Week
two of the Mission concentrates on the celebration of our faith and on-going
conversion. This takes place through evening Mission services which include:
Preaching,
Liturgy, Drama, Music, Testimony. There can also be special prayer times
during the day, where different styles of prayer can be used. Week two
also normally includes a Parish social, to allow the parish to gather
and celebrate together. Phase 3: Follow-up By arrangement with the parish priest, a Sion Community member will return about a month after the mission to discuss the parish requirements for follow-up. Where
appropriate, Sion Community can be available to continue working with
and equipping the Parish to become more effective in their own mission,
