Michelle
Moran was recently elected the new president of ICCRS (International Catholic
Charismatic Renewal Services).
What
exactly is ICCRS?
ICCRS
has statutes recognised by the Vatican (ie Pontifical recognition). In
a nutshell it is the main co-ordination and service structure of Catholic
Charismatic Renewal world wide. Currently it serves Charismatic realities
in 165 countries and has contact with 230 countries. It is an Institution
that works in communion with the Holy See and is the main communication
channel between the Vatican and Charismatic Renewal globally.
What
will I do?
The
President does not have a formal job description. Apart from overseeing
the office in the Vatican, some of my main duties will be acting as the
main contact person or figurehead between the Vatican (via the Pontifical
Council of the laity) and worldwide Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Thankfully
however, the ICCRS has a full-time director, Oreste Pesare to ensure every
thing runs smoothly in the office in Rome.
My
Vision for ICCRS
Before
the election, Jim Murphy (ICCRS (USA)) the other nominee and I were asked
to present our Manifestos to the Council, and to give you a flavour of
things, this is some of what I shared: It will not be a surprise to those
of you who know me as these are my usual thrusts in leadership.
•
To lead ICCRS forward with Vision .
• To give priority to raising up the next generation of leaders
in Renewal through leadership training and trying to change the culture
in areas where things have become a bit static.
•
To build up contacts between ICCRS and persons of influence in the Vatican
(in the wake of many new appointments in the Vatican Dicasteries).
•
To ensure that ICCRS remains relevant to the Church and to the world.
